The Ice Cream Monk and Shapeshifter are more able to take on any type of foe, but even then you should be cautious against some of them.Guild of Dungeoneering Mod is a modified version of Guild of Dungeoneering developed by Versus Evil. I purposely avoid placing some enemies because I know my hero is at a disadvantage against them. Choose enemies that your hero can easily counter. You only need to fight them once and there will be a full entry for them there. Make full use of the Guildopedia to check out what abilities and attacks your enemies have. Also, you don't need to focus on physical attacks, so Arcane + Holy can work well with this character. Which makes this character a bit better than the Monk for longer dungeons. This character plays similarly to the Ice Cream Monk but it makes no difference if the character holds something. If you've been saving your cash, then while you're doing the Ice Cream dungeons you should be able to afford a Tier Two unlock. The requirement to stay hands free does limit this character a bit in the longer dungeons, but I don't think anything's worth the damage reduction you'd get. A level of Swift wouldn't hurt for a finishing move. I recommend you focus on Holy for blocks and healing, and Crush for your big attacks. Provided you keep the character's hands free, the minimum amount of damage you'll do with a physical attack is 2, which is better than any other character. The Ice Cream Monk is very powerful for a Tier 1 character, with a good balance of attack, defense and healing. One level of Swift gives you a good finisher. Armor and Crush are what you should concentrate on, with maybe a couple of levels of Growth for healing. The Grave Digger is a more offensive version of the Bruiser. The Mime is fairly interesting to play because you never know what cards you'll pick up in battle. For the most part, you should be blocking incoming attacks, using the healing available from the Holy cards to restore health. Armor and Holy are the equipment types you should focus on, with just a little bit of Growth and/or Swift if you can. The Bruiser and Mime play somewhat similarly. As the game progresses and you start fighting more enemies who have mixed physical and magical attacks, the Ice Cream Monk, with the Mime backing up, should be your focus. The Grave Digger is a decent substitute if you have a bad run and the Bruiser goes down. The Bruiser is king in the early dungeons where the enemies use mostly physical attacks. That's all I used until I unlocked the Ice Cream Monk, although looking back, I think I should have also unlocked the Mime to make things a little easier. When the Bruiser died, that unlocked the Graveyard and the Grave Digger. I started by unlocking the Bruiser, then the Curio Shoppe and Talisman of the Warrior. Personally, I concentrated on saving as much money as I could in the early stages of the game. Don't worry too much about the abilities gained from winning dungeons, they're helpful but coming in with a fresh hero is, in my experience, barely noticably harder. Save your quick attacks until the finisher, that can absolutely change everything Maximize the use of your heroes special ability, those abilities are often quite powerful. Don't remember if the Lich is a timed boss (will attack after x turns), but if so, attack him BEFORE the timer runs out as he'll then be weaker. Look out for the yellow "fountains", getting the right one right before a tough monster can help a lot. Fight one lvl 1, one lvl 2 and then only lvl 3 if possible as lvl 3 loot is vastly superior Learn which foes your hero is best against and focus on placing those. Try extreme setups (mass healing, almost only blocking etc.), I'm some instances there's a non-obvious combo that's extremely powerful. Only buy the item sets that are helpful for your 1-2 favorite heroes (e.g. ![]() Those are the levels though that helped me understand how to maximize my heroes potential so it's sure frustrating but also helpful. What I did was too simply grind and learn and after quite a few attempts I got by. I got stuck at a couple of early levels as well, not sure if it was the Lich or not.
